Marc D’Amico, WorkFocus Australia’s General Manager, celebrated his 20-year anniversary with the organisation last month.
After training as an Occupational Therapist and getting his first experience in wellness and work at the BHP Steelworks in Newcastle, Marc joined WorkFocus as a Business Manager in 2003.
Marc has helped literally thousands of clients with physical and psychological work injuries, ‘get well and working’ again – an ethos and favourite phrase Marc embodies!
Speaking of his passion for the wellness and work sector, Marc says, “I fundamentally believe in the power of good work for health. The positive impact that we as health and health support professionals can have on people’s well-being, when we use our skills and training to help them to stay well, get well and return to work after injury or illness, is awesome.’
Over his 20-year career journey at WorkFocus, Marc has taken on many different and varied roles from working with clients, doing assessments, canvassing for work trials and job placements, managing customers, quality and organisational excellence and various leadership roles.
Speaking about his career journey so far and what he enjoys most, Marc says, ‘the career that we can have with WorkFocus is amazing. Today, I support our teams nationally to ensure every individual entrusted to us gets the help they need for recovery and return to work, whatever their need or location. I love seeing our staff develop and grow their skills and careers across WorkFocus and in doing so, bring our vision to help even more people, and be the best employer for health and health support professionals in Australia to life.’
